Greetings Pitt Postdocs!
The University of Pittsburgh Postdoctoral Association (UPPDA) is one of the longest-standing and recognized PDA in the country. The UPPDA elections are coming up soon, and we are currently seeking candidates to serve on the 2017 UPPDA Executive Board. Many of you have already been involved in UPPDA events this year, and this is a chance to try new activities, become more engaged with the larger postdoctoral community, and help carry on the proud tradition of the UPPDA.
All Board positions are up for open elections:
Networking Committee Chair (formerly Outreach Committee Chair)
Career Development Committee Chair
Advocacy Committee Chair
International Committee Chair
Communications Chair (formerly Communications and Networking Chair)
You may run for any position, including multiple positions. Specific duties of each office as defined by the constitution can be found here. If you would like guidance as to which position would be best suited for you, or if you’d like more specific information about a particular position, please email us.
The Board is intended to represent our highly diverse postdoctoral community, so candidates of all experience levels, schools, departments and work sites (upper campus, lower campus, and satellite research facilities) are particularly important. We also encourage candidates from traditionally underrepresented minorities and all national origins.
The term of office for all Executive Board positions is December 1st-November 30th of each year. The outgoing Executive Board serves in an advisory capacity to help with transition from December 1st-February 28-29th.
Select the position(s) that you're interested in and write a 2-3 paragraph manifesto describing your background and qualifications, as well as some of the goals that you would like to accomplish if elected. Note that once your manifesto has been uploaded to the voting website, no further modifications can be made. To view Manifestos written by current Board members, visit the following link and look under "Candidacy Statements":
Please submit one manifesto for each position for which you are running. Email your manifesto to Tammy Dennis by FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 4th.
Elections will be held between November 7th-14th - voting link to follow soon!
We hope to see you at many more events, and look forward to your continued participation.
