Collin Diedrich, PhD

Collin is a senior Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Pediatrics. Collin received his PhD in Molecular Virology and Microbiology from University of Pittsburgh in 2012. His research focused on how SIV increased the susceptibility of tuberculosis in a non-human primate animal model. After graduating, he began his first post-doctoral position at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. There, he examined how HIV and its progression modifies M. tuberculosis granulomas within humans. After his approx. 3 year stint in Cape Town, Collin moved back to Pittsburgh to pursue a 2nd postdoctoral fellowship to continue his work on a new SIV/M. tuberculosis animal model. Collin is excited to be the Advocacy Chair for 2017 and encourages any postdoctoral students with issues to please contact him.
