Jenny Jones, PhD

Jenny is a postdoctoral researcher studying influenza virus reassortment in the Lakdawala lab in the Department of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics. She seeks to identify bottlenecks to reassortment that could be used to curtail future influenza pandemics. Prior to coming to Pittsburgh Jenny grew up in Miami, Florida and completed her Ph.D at the University of North Carolina. She enjoys endless distractions from her research and the Pittsburgh winters, including writing, practicing music and art, and exploring the city. Read on about her at her personal website.

As the Advocacy Chair of UPPDA, Jenny is looking forward to cultivating more opportunities for postdocs to meet and form a community within the university. She supports the notion that postdocs need their own voice within their institution and is working to ensure that postdoctoral representation exists. She is looking forward to a fun year representing her fellow postdocs. If you have any questions, she can be reached at jennyjones_xyz@pitt.edu.
