Science Writing Intern – Technology Marketing
The Innovation Institute is seeking University of Pittsburgh graduate students and postdocs interested in learning about a wide array of Pitt technologies and writing short promotional documents to garner commercial interest. Activities include identifying the key attributes of the technology for marketing and messaging, preparing written marketing content, working collaboratively with researchers and Innovation Institute staff to edit marketing materials, and identifying prospects potentially interested in acquiring the technology. The overall goal is to help Pitt innovations make it to market.
Critical thinking, communication, and a broad scientific knowledge base are essential, as the intern will need to fully understand various technologies and translate their value for a business audience. Qualified candidates should be PhD students, postdocs, or master’s students with a thesis requirement. Applicants should also have a bachelor’s degree in a technical field and an interest in science communication for entrepreneurship and industry. The internship is a part-time (20 hours or less per week) unpaid position starting as soon as possible and running through the spring semester.
