Louis Chartrand PhD

Louis is currently working on the Geography of Philosophy Project (GPP), leading the part of the project that has to do with constructing and studying a cross-cultural and multilingual corpus of textual data to study the variation of fundamental philosophical concepts (know, understand and wise) across the world. His Ph.D. was in cognitive computer science: concretely, it was a mix of machine learning and applied philosophy, and it builds on 10 years of studying philosophy and the B.A. and M.A. level as well as a lifetime of doing computer science as a hobby. Given the novelty of using corpus methods in philosophy, his work also leads him to reflexions on empirical methods across sciences.
