Megan Bertholomey

Megan is a fifth year Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Psychiatry in the School of Medicine. She has made her rounds across the Midwest, growing up in Beloit, Wisconsin; attending Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, where she studied Studio Art and Psychology; earning her Ph.D. in Psychology from Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis; and completing a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship at McLean Hospital in Belmont, Massachusetts before heading back westward to join the lab of Dr. Mary Torregrossa here at the University of Pittsburgh. Megan’s primary research focus is in determining risk factors implicated in the development of psychiatric disorders using preclinical models. Specifically, she is interested in studying the neurobiological substrates that underlie sex- and age-dependent changes in alcohol seeking and drinking as a function of stress exposure. Outside of the lab, Megan enjoys exploring the foodie and arts scenes in Pittsburgh, and as the Communication and Networking Chair, is on the lookout for great venues for UPPDA social functions. Megan looks forward to meeting and networking with other fellow Pitt Postdocs this year.
